The 2016 Plince is a blend of 79% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc. It has a medium garnet-purple color and offers up scents of red and black currants, black cherries and mulberries with scorched earth, bay leaves and iron ore nuances plus a hint of violets. Medium-bodied, the palate is packed with energetic red and black fruits, textured with ripe, rounded tannins and loads of freshness, finishing on a compelling mineral note.

This 21-acre vineyard has produced a firmly structured wine with severe tannins that will take time to soften. The fruits along with acidity are still developing and will give an attractive wine from 2022.

This has an alluring profile, with dark plum, fig and blackberry fruit melded with mulling spice, black tea and incense notes. The silky finish lets everything drape easily. Drink now through 2028. 4,100 cases made.
